Today was our first visit with a doctor. We went to the Park Hill Clinic in Johnson. Their method is to see every doctor on staff at least once during your pregnancy. That way when Michelle goes into labor we've met the doctor that will be delivering our baby. Today our doctor was Scott Bailey. He was very informative and helpful in answering our questions.
He used the Doppler to check on the baby's heartbeat. It was amazing listening to the baby. The heartbeat was so fast, it was like a hummingbird! It hit home today that it was actually happening. All we've had to this point was talk and unwelcome symptoms. To have physical evidence makes us even more excited!
Today is Michelle's dad's birthday, so she's extremely excited about getting to hear the baby's heartbeat. It's a real special day for us both. Our next appointment will be Wednesday, March 18. Michelle will be entering the 16th week at that point. That day we will see Dr. Hicks. We're testing for spinobiphida and any other spinal deficiencies. We'll send out another update after that appointment!

We're having a baby!!!
We found out shortly after New Year's that Michelle was pregnant. Today starts the 11th week! We're very excited! We want to thank all of you for your love and support!
The expected due date is 9/9/09. Neither one of us will say if we want a boy or a girl, but both of us agree we want healthy (obviously)! If we have a boy, we are thinking about naming him Harper Bruce. (For those that don't know, Michelle and I met in Nashville and spent most of that dinner discussing Ben Harper. She went to see Ben Harper at the Ryman Auditorium the following night. We chose Bruce because that is Michelle's dad's first name.) If it's a girl, we were thinking about Cassidy for a first name, but haven't decided on a middle name.
We will be going to the doctor again on Feb. 18 (Michelle's dad's birthday!). We should hear the baby's heartbeat for the first time. We'll have another update then!
